3D printing processes
There are a variety of processes in the world of additive manufacturing. They range from plastic printing to concrete printing to metal fusing.
SLS/MJF
These two processes (Selective Laser Sintering and Multi Jet Fusion) melt powders using heat. In the SLS process, this is done with a laser. MJF, on the other hand, uses agents (liquids) and a lamp as the heat source.
FDM
The FDM process is often the door opener to the world of 3D printing. It stands for Fused Deposition Modeling. Here, a plastic wire called filament is heated and applied layer by layer.
DLP/SLA
These types work with a liquid medium, a synthetic resin. This resin is cured at the desired locations using UV light. In digital light processing, this is done with a projector. In stereolithography with a UV laser.
